Information You Enter
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider that supplies that result. Mansfield Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the query on its own servers. A message sent to us contains only the details the sender chooses to include, and those details are used to answer the message.
Routine Technical Logs
The host may record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time stamps in ordinary server logs. Those records are reviewed in aggregate for security, uptime, and broad page-use measures. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may also use cookies or similar tools when they are enabled.
How the Limited Data Is Used
Technical data helps operate the pages, diagnose faults, understand overall traffic, and improve the reference. Visitor lists are not sold, and the service is not used to build a personal profile of an individual reader.
External Portals and Links
Pages may link to the Mansfield Town Clerk, the Assessor and AxisGIS, the Registrar of Voters, G.A. 19 Rockville, PD-25 Tolland-Mansfield, the Mansfield Public Library, the Historical Society, state agencies, and outside search tools. Each destination sets its own privacy terms. Information submitted to a government portal or an outside search provider is governed by that destination, including the provider of any sponsored result.
Connecticut public-record access is a separate issue. The Connecticut FOI Act, Chapter 14, C.G.S. §§1-200 onward, and the Mansfield FOI procedure apply to records held by public agencies, not to this private policy.
Who May Process It
Hosting and site-support providers may handle the server logs needed to run the service. Where analytics or advertising measurement is active, those providers may receive the limited automatic data described above. Information is disclosed when valid legal process requires disclosure, and otherwise is not shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The connection uses encryption, and log records are kept only for the time needed for the operational purposes described above. There are no user accounts on these pages, so Mansfield Residents Directory does not hold a visitor password or user profile to expose.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact address, a parent or guardian may ask us to remove it.
Choices Under Connecticut Law
Where it applies, Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, C.G.S. Chapter 743jj, effective July 1, 2023, provides qualifying consumers rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out choices. The Attorney General's overview explains that state and local agencies acting in their governmental capacity are generally exempt, so the Act is not a way to erase an official Mansfield deed, voter entry, court docket, or vital record.
A request about information held by this service can be sent through the Contact page. We can check the contact mailbox and available logs because little personal data is retained. Requests concerning a public record must go to its custodian. C.G.S. §1-217 may protect qualifying residential addresses, while C.G.S. §§7-51 and 7-51a govern important birth, marriage, death, and confidentiality limits handled by the Town Clerk or DPH.
